House Speaker Mike Johnson announced a new fundraising committee Monday that will act as the chief platform for collecting campaign cash to support Republicans running for Congress.

The Grow the Majority committee is comprised of over 70 Republican groups, which allows a maximum contribution of $850,600. The committee gives Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican, the capability to solicit large donations that could be used as resources for the 70 groups.

According to a release, 25 House GOP incumbents, 10 nominee funds for House districts, 16 GOP challengers in districts held by Democrats, 20 state Republican parties in key House battleground states, the Congressional Leadership Fund, the National Republican Congressional Committee, the Republican National Committee, and Mr. Johnson’s reelection campaign and leadership PAC are included in the groups.

“Speaker Johnson has hit the ground running to ensure Republicans in critical districts have the resources they need to achieve victory,” Team Johnson Executive Director Billy Constangy said in a statement. “The speaker is all-in to grow our majority, and the creation of this new joint fundraising committee shows he is committed to doing his part to help the team.”

Mr. Johnson is finishing up his first month as House speaker. He was a relatively under-the-radar congressman before being elected into the top-ranking Republican position.
